I went to this church the other day. My first thought took a while to develop because it was such a different thing for me, always being in underfunded churches who were mostly disorganised.?Ǭ†

“Wow, it’s like they bought everything they needed and then thought, ‘we have so much money left, what else can we buy?’”

Seriously, I think I went to the SMALL church and they still had so much stuff: a whole TV crew/set, an awesome sound system (think concert quality), awesome screens, lighting, and the entire room was full. I even noted they had three very large expensive looking TVs at the back of the choir with the only function to provide a ‘rainbow’ background for said choir.

The service was well, I didn’t enjoy it but that’s due to my own little views on how church should function. As I see it, there’s two different ways people can influence others to have faith in Christianity. The first way is through information and facts (for example, linking historical events to the Bible, other random tidbits of convincing evidence) and the second way (which I am entirely biased against) is through affecting and pumping people’s state.?Ǭ†

See the funny thing about state is that when someone else is affecting it, you’re going to put higher value on everything that they say or do. People are easily swayed by someone who affects their state. This is why sales works. This is why you get girls to laugh and have a good time. Etcetera, etcetera.

People are addicted to hitting state. If they can’t get it from themselves, they’re going to go out and find something that will. Drugs, alcohol, state-pumping church services. Anyway, I’m not going to go into a big rant about it (I’ve already said too much) but I just don’t agree with that kind of ministry.

Onto other things, I have returned to Brisbane (I don’t even know if I said anything on this blog about leaving) but for all who didn’t know, I went somewhere for work, but then the boss was really disorganised and lied about the accommodation so I decided that it would be stupid to work with someone who obviously wouldn’t be able to support me in case I wasn’t doing very well. So that was that. I’m back.?Ǭ†

And Mum took my car. She said she’d be back two hours ago, I want to go to the book store to buy these books I’ve been hearing a lot about (The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand) plus I just want to go out, staying home is boring.

Blah. Enough writing.
