Hillsong

Filed under: Blog — admin @ 2:31 pm

I went to this church the other day. My first thought took a while to develop because it was such a different thing for me, always being in underfunded churches who were mostly disorganised.?Ǭ†

?Ǭ†

“Wow, it’s like they bought everything they needed and then thought, ‘we have so much money left, what else can we buy?’”

?Ǭ†

Seriously, I think I went to the SMALL church and they still had so much stuff: a whole TV crew/set, an awesome sound system (think concert quality), awesome screens, lighting, and the entire room was full. I even noted they had three very large expensive looking TVs at the back of the choir with the only function to provide a ‘rainbow’ background for said choir.

?Ǭ†

The service was well, I didn’t enjoy it but that’s due to my own little views on how church should function. As I see it, there’s two different ways people can influence others to have faith in Christianity. The first way is through information and facts (for example, linking historical events to the Bible, other random tidbits of convincing evidence) and the second way (which I am entirely biased against) is through affecting and pumping people’s state.?Ǭ†

?Ǭ†

See the funny thing about state is that when someone else is affecting it, you’re going to put higher value on everything that they say or do. People are easily swayed by someone who affects their state. This is why sales works. This is why you get girls to laugh and have a good time. Etcetera, etcetera.

?Ǭ†

People are addicted to hitting state. If they can’t get it from themselves, they’re going to go out and find something that will. Drugs, alcohol, state-pumping church services. Anyway, I’m not going to go into a big rant about it (I’ve already said too much) but I just don’t agree with that kind of ministry.

?Ǭ†

Onto other things, I have returned to Brisbane (I don’t even know if I said anything on this blog about leaving) but for all who didn’t know, I went somewhere for work, but then the boss was really disorganised and lied about the accommodation so I decided that it would be stupid to work with someone who obviously wouldn’t be able to support me in case I wasn’t doing very well. So that was that. I’m back.?Ǭ†

?Ǭ†

And Mum took my car. She said she’d be back two hours ago, I want to go to the book store to buy these books I’ve been hearing a lot about (The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand) plus I just want to go out, staying home is boring.

?Ǭ†

Blah. Enough writing.

Oh Where Art Thou?

[Written on Friday, 18th April]

So like, I’m not in Brisbane anymore but I won’t say where I am. Lets just say I have a new job and it’s time to move away and start my own little life thing. Actually, originally I was only going to go away for a week’s holiday to see Mr Jeffy Allen IX in action, but my work has moved me down here for a lot longer. Maybe six weeks or six months. Really, the ambiguity is annoying me.

?Ǭ†

So seeing JLAIX last night was pretty awesome. That man is inspirational. Seeing Ciaran as well was… well, I didn’t expect that he’d be there and I was looking forward to meet that guy. I was in shock and awe…

?Ǭ†

I visited one of the local bars in this city. It was shit. Drinks were way overpriced: 8.50 for a double black, the place looked crap and it was empty. Except for the 9 or 10 bogans sitting around. This place better pick up it’s impression because my first day here wasn’t very impressive.

?Ǭ†

In a week, I should be moving into my new place with the work team. I’ll back up and talk about my work because I don’t think most people know I got a job working sales. Basically for the last week and a bit I’ve been going to the airport everyday and selling credit cards to bogans (To those in the know about fight club: I basically run MM on bogans all day) and that was fun enough that when they said they had to move everyone to _______, I said, “Awesome I’ll pack my bags”.?Ǭ†

?Ǭ†

Did I mention JLAIX had an iPhone too? Oh man, that guy does the best ‘crank that’.

?Ǭ†

Ok well I’m going to have a shower or something and go out.?Ǭ†

Random thoughts

Filed under: Blog — admin @ 6:50 pm

On occasion, I actually think about things. Here are a few things I’ve been thinking about the last few weeks.

Penis pills:

I don’t understand the logic behind advertising for penis pills. Ok, so some guys seem to think that having a bigger dick would help them be better in bed. Fair enough, it’s generally a myth but if you want to believe in that then it’s fine.

The part I don’t understand is how having a larger penis will help you get women. Lets see. Here’s a title of one of the spam emails I received today:

“Girls will hunt you on the streets!”

Wow really? Girls will hunt me on the streets if I have a large penis? How does that work? Are they somehow psychic and know that my penis that I’m most likely (well… most…) covering with my pants is ginormous? Or do you have to go around telling these girls you have a large penis first. Go try that and talk about your penis to random people. Unless you have tight game, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter what size your penis is (edit: I meant that they won’t respond well to you talking about dick unless you have tight game etc. Really, its just creepy if guys run around doing that). Guys who think that girls will be instantly attracted to them for anything other than their self are retarded.

Turning into the left land and more specifically, the roundabout at Sumners/Dandenong road:

Lets describe the scenario. Many people turn left from Dandenong road into Sumners (I think) road at a roundabout. There are two lanes in the roundabout and usually it’s pretty busy. When you turn left, the left lane goes towards the city via Centenary highway and the right lane goes to many places such as Darra, Oxley, Corinda, Ipswich motorway, Forest Lake… well, obviously it goes to a lot of places (I’m setting up the problem here).

So most people want to turn left so they can go into the right lane. See on the left lane there’s also a further bike/bus stop lane. Here’s how I think the system was meant to work: EVERYONE turns into the left lane. People who want to go into the right lane merge. If you can’t you can stay still and merge but people in the left lane can overtake you on the left and continue on their merry way.

This is how it actually works: People who want to go into the right lane stay at the roundabout until both the left and right lanes are clear so they can turn left straight into the right lane. This causes traffic to stand still for a long time because it’s a busy intersection and so many people want to go to the right lane.

This frustrates me.

Ok I can’t remember the other things I was thinking about so I’ll write about them later.

Have fun,

Matt
